This beautiful constructed Victorian bureau plat is raised upon 4 cabriole legs with ormolu mounts and trellis work to the freeze and drawers with high quality gilded bronze mounts. Red tooled leather to the top.

Provenance: It was very fashionable in the second half of the 19th century for the wealthy at the time to decorate and furnish their houses in the French taste. The great cabinet makers at the time included Gillows, Jetley’s, Howard and Sons and Latterly Maples, who all became household names as well as a by word for quality.
