Daily Express – Lord Nelson’s sword is a steel at £50,000

14th September 2021

THE fighting sword used by Admiral Lord Nelson is for sale at £50,000.

The British naval hero is believed to have used the steel weapon in battle against the French during the Napoleonic Wars.

He gave the blade to his nephew William Maurice Suckling, who served on HMS Agamemnon. There is speculation that it once belonged to Bonnie Prince Charlie.

The 2ft sword remained in the Suckling family for two centuries before it was acquired by a private collector in 2003.

Last year it was bought by antiques dealer Charles Wallrock, of Lymington, Hants. He said: “There is no doubt this was Nelson’s sword.”

It will go on display at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London from September 21-26 before being sold on online portal 2Covet.
