Never too late for ‘Love’? – March 19

5th March 2019

I cannot believe I missed our February newsletter when I had the perfect subject for Valentine’s Day – ‘LOVE’!  We are working so hard to get a 100 page full colour catalogue to the printer in time for a Masterpiece delivery that I quite forgot about newsletters, half term, skiing holidays and everything else.  The first draft went to press yesterday so here we are in March and I am making up for lost time.  Above is a Victorian tête-à-tête or love seat with serpents forming the arms, maybe not very romanitic or a nod to the Garden of Eden?  Below we have two high Victorian Parian ware figures of LOVE and THE HOP QUEEN.  Parian ware, an unglazed white porcelain developed in Staffordshire in 1845, was an instant success as it so closely resembled Parian white marble.  Fine sculpture could be mass produced.
