200th Birthday Congratulations to the R.N.L.I. March 2024

4th March 2024

On March 4th 1824 Sir William Hillary’s vision for a service dedicated to saving lives at sea, entirely funded by donations from the public, became a reality. Originally called The Royal National Institution for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck it adopted the shorter, and now more familiar, format The Royal National Lifeboat Institution, in 1854. We are very proud of our son, Edward, who has been volunteering in Lymington since he turned 18.
