A Sterling Effort – July 2023

Long-term readers of this newsletter know that Charlie has a passion for silver racing cups.  July and August always mean yacht racing in the Solent and this summer we have already watched a regatta of splendid classic Fife yachts.  As I write powerboats are racing between Bournemouth and Cowes, reaching speeds of 100mph, a far cry from the first races in 1904 when ‘the fastest woman on earth’, Dorothy Levitt, set the water speed record at 19.3mph in Napier.
