Masterpiece went very well this year, and we sold to many European countries as well as to Asia and Australia. Could this be partly because our currency is low? Pieces from these newsletters which have found new homes included the Komai jubako, the Safavid ewer and a couple of the bugbears.
Other sales featured another Japanese silvered sea eagle this time by Masatsune. Despite selling two centre tables, ‘smalls’ and ‘collectables’ predominated. Shows, however, are not just about selling but also about making contacts and buying so Charlie was delighted to find a lovely white marble of Flora by Adams Acton to complement the Pharaoh’s Daughter we were exhibiting. Meanwhile new pieces keep arriving including these chic French wall brackets and a very unusual large burr-walnut desk.
As ever Charlie is always busy finding new venues to display our stock especially if it is combined with the chance of a good meal – so our latest collaboration is with Lymington’s newest fish bar and restaurant within Berthon Boatyard.
