A delicate walnut easel dressing table mirror, the oval plate within an asymetrical frame of C-scrolls in the Rococco manner, .deocorated in glass mosaic with a Venetian scene and floral sprays. Italian, circa 1900.
The Rococo style emerged in 18th century France and is known for its ornate and fanciful designs featuring intricate motifs like C-scrolls, shells, and acanthus leaves. This mirror’s asymmetrical frame, with its striking use of curves and asymmetrical balance, exemplifies the Rococo style’s love of asymmetry.
