A fine owner’s model of the freighter S.S. Forthbridge, the hull painted grey above dark red, with white topsides, the decks veneered in maple with the seams marked in ink, the deck fittings, of the highest quality and detail, rendered in gilt-brass and including anchor, windlass and chain, hawse pipes, bollards, chock, ventilators, railings, hatches, binnacles, wheel, running lights, a black funnel, boats on davits, two masts with cargo booms and an open bridge with canopy frames, etc, all raised on a plinth within a mahogany case, the builder’s plaques on either side stating ‘Screw Steamer ‘Forthbridge’ 9025 Tons Deadweight, built for Messrs Crosby, Magee & Co Ltd. Shipping Chambers, West Hartlepool by Messrs William Doxford & Sons Ltd Sunderland.’ English, circa 1928.
