each with corded mechanism, mounted onto a mahogany plinth base, with applied oval brass crown and anchor Admiralty plate

Provenance: The use of Davits was for allowing the ships crew to raise tenders or the yachts dinghy from the water onto the deck.
Prior to this invention the booms from the masts would be swung out to allow them to be used as a Derrick.
