A leather dressing case belonging to Lord Richard Wellesley by Vickery, 1908, of rectangular form with a crocodile skin exterior and green Moroccan leather lined interior, the hinged lid with a lattice and turn buckles for securing a mirror, the top with a carrying handle, stamped in gilt R.W. 1908, the interior stamped J.C. Vickery to Their Majesties the King and Queen, 179-181-183 Regent St. W.  The tray with dressing utensils missing.  English, 1908.

Provenance: Lord Richard Wellesley, thence by descent

Lord Richard Wellesley (1879-1914) was the son of Col Arthur Charles the 4th Duke of Wellington and an officer in the Grenadier Guards, killed in action on 29 Oct 1914  He had married Louise Fitzgerald on 30 Apr 1908.  They had two daughters, one of whom, Pamela, married Denis Gomer Berry.  They were the parents of Richard Berry, 3rd Viscount Kemsley of Brockenhurst Park.
