A Scottish builder’s cased half hull model of a herring drifter, the carved yellow pine hull with ebonized box sides and stringing and gilt propeller, plain decks with wooden fittings including anchor davits, cleats, cut away masts with silk swallow tail flags, net trawling gear, coal chute covers, the superstructure with details drawn in ink, ventilators with red interiors, a ship’s boat in davits, all mounted on a display board within the original glazed mahogany case carved with a two curling waves centred on the initials SHJ and with the national symbols of roses, thistles and clover.  Scottish, circa 1900.
