Provenance: Footnote: Quignon Fils et Cie was set up in Paris by Napoléon-J-A Quignon (b. 1815) and later included his son Gustave-Fréderic-Henri (b.1843). They were famed for carved and/or gilded furniture, including seat furniture for the Palaces of Fontainebleau in 1860 and the Tuileries in 1861, and for furniture imitating the Chinese for which they won a prize in 1889. They exhibited regularly at internal and international expositions in Paris, London and Moscow between 1849 and 1891.
