An Ottoman Empire Damascus border tile, late 16th century, of rectangular form, the glazed fritware body painted in underglaze green, cobalt blue, turquoise and black with a continuous band of green arabesque medallions within curling turquoise tendrils reserved on a white cloud scrolls on a blue ground, one side with a thin turquoise border, mounted. Syrian.
