An unusual early 20th Century  George 1st style free standing pedestal  ,desk with brass  open plate handles . The shaped draws to each pedestal have unusual oyster Veneers with walnut cross banding and reeded surrounds.  The top retains its original brown tooled leather . The quality of this desk and choice of veneers would suggest the leading maker in Georgian style furniture of the time . W. Charles Tozer of 25 Brook Street, London,

In 1920, W. Charles Tozer was a cabinet maker, working in London, possibly at Brook Street. He is known to have retailed furniture, including a japanned bureau bookcase in early 18th-century style, which bears his retail label. His work also includes a 1920s walnut armchair. The National Trust Collections includes several items attributed to or retailed by W. Charles Tozer, including a japanned bureau bookcase and a chair.
