Section of floor joist from the lower gun deck of H.M.S VICTORY – replaced after extensive restoration in 1944. Formerly in the collection of lord Powerscourt of Northern Ireland. Note: On the instructions of Nelson the gun decks of VICTORY were painted red to disguise the blood spilt during the battle. traces of that paint are visible here.
