A rare George IV Anglo Indian hardwood breakfront wardrobe In four sections with cupboard doors carved in high relief above and beside two short and two long drawers. The doors enclosing linen slides and hanging rails.
Literature: The powerful and abundant carving and use of classical style motifs recalls colonial furniture from Madras in south India. It is interesting to note that there were also Scottish crafstmen with links to Trotter working in Calcutta who likewise favoured bold gadrooned edges and formal borders.
