A pair of very generous mahogany wing armchairs attributed to Whytock and Reid, Edinburgh, each with a curved back and wings above out swept arms and a shaped seat rail, set on cabriole legs with pointed-toe feet, reupholstered in distressed blue leather. Scottish, circa 1920

 

Whytock and Reid (1807-2004), leading high-quality furniture manufacturers in Edinburgh, furnished the great and even royal houses and castles of Scotland, often working in partnership with the architect Robert Lorimer.
