A good quality Meiji period shibayama and gold lacquer box, of quadri-lobed form the lid decorated with a white cockatoo on a perch between flowering wisteria, a vase, teapot and scattered flowers in the foreground, the sides inlaid with enamel roundels, the nashiji interior fitted with a tray decorated with different coloured gold lacquers with a ho-ho and paulonia blossoms. Japanese, c1890.
