Shipbuilder’s model of the SS Fusilier with well detailed decks fittings in a glazed mahogany case with builders plaque.
The SS Fusilier was one of three passenger steamships belonging to the Edinburgh Shipping Co. to carry passengers between Leith and London in the 1920’s. Built in 1924 by the Caledonian Shipbuilding Co. she was attacked by the Luftwaffe in June 1941 and badly damaged. She was towed to shallower waters by two attending Royal Navt destroyers but later sank.
The accompanying model of her sister ship the SS Royal Archer is on display in the convening room of the Trinity House museum, Edinburgh.
