Caroline and Charlie share the buying of Japanese works of art between them. Caroline particularly loves 20th century cloisonné – the more dramatic the shape and the design the better. The Tamura family are special favourites with their signature use of gin-bari (translucent colours over silver foil). Charlie has a penchant for bronze tigers and birds of all shapes and sizes from embroidered cockerels to huge silvered eagles, swimming ducks, auspicious cranes (longevity) and a polychrome pheasant. In his menagerie there are also several powerful animal bronzes by Genryusai Seiya and a constantly changing cast of bronze fishermen, farmers, woodsmen and tradesmen and women. Our Chinese inventory normally comprises pairs of famille rose and famille verte vases and 19th century lamp bases.
