Charles predominantly buys pictures of ships of all types; for example Montague Dawson grisaille paintings of warships or Solent One Designs racing, Victorian ship’s portraits, American silk collage pictures by Wilson and quantities of silver gelatin photographs of gentlemen’s steam and sailing yachts by the renown companies of Beken and Kirk & Son.
