Caroline sticks to Japanese Meiji period pieces ranging from the superlative jubako (lunch box) by Komai of Kyoto which is richly inlaid with different colours of gold to simpler silver boxes with iron panels inserted into the lids. Charlie prefers tortoiseshell and ivory boxes, some of which are also manicure sets, and tea caddies from the Georgian, Regency and Victorian eras.
